Our French reader reminds us of our strong affirmations for the school year!   Je suis capable! I am capable!   I am capable of many great things! Here are some of the things we are capable of according to our elementary students.

Monalisa! Our Tried and Tested Class Management Tool!

I came across the Monalisa as a class management tool when I was gingerly scanning the internet for a class management tool that actually works. I instantly loved the idea behind this fun and well known painting and guess what? The kids did too! Here are some submissions from our students on what the painting means to them as a class management tool!

Bienvenu! Welcome!

Welcome to the 2023/24 school year!  My name is Mademoiselle Armstrong,  ( Miss Armstrong ) and I am thrilled to continue working with our elementary classes who did such good work last year. Last year we learnt how to greet each other in French, Animals, Days of the week, Colors, the Family, numbers 1-10 and some French expressions.  The students were particularly thrilled with their newly found knowledge on how to express their like or dislike for a thing in French.

Reflection and Roadmap for the school year!

Bienvenu! Welcome to the 2023/2024 school year! This year our elementary French program will strive to touch the four points of language competency building;- reading, writing, listening and speaking. During our professional development sessions, one of the inspiring moments for me as an educator was sitting through a book reading by the Obamas. The story they read  focussed on vocabulary building through reading. Based on this, this year's French elementary program will highlight vocabulary and challenge students to choose, retain and use vocabulary they pick up! Here is the reading by the Obamas.
